Vege Farm Outing

One thing majority of children share in common is their dislike of vegetables, or anything “funny tasting”, for that matter. Just last Saturday, 38 of our YFers proved that we have matured into fine, vegetable-eating youths, by making a visit to the vegetable farm! The main reason why we ventured to the northern side of our little island was to gain new insight on how vegetables are grown and maintained. The idea of plant growth is linked to our YF theme, Abide To Grow, whereby we recognise that as Christians, we are similar to plants, as we are expected to grow and bear fruits.
After watching a short video on how the vegetables are grown through aeroponics, our tour guide, Aunty Margaret, offered us a bowl full of lettuce and bottles of “Lettucino”. Apart from the “Lettucino” drink which tasted mildly like detergent due to the strong lime flavour, the rest of the complementary food available (lettuce with Thousand Island dressing) was a big hit among our YFers. The lettuce, which was wiped out within minutes, undoubtedly satisfied many of our hungry (or rather, greedy) stomachs.
